**Per the FJWC Bylaws, if an Active or Professional Member does not meet the minimum yearly hour requirement (based on membership type) by May 31st, the member may be subject to a $25 fine per service hour not completed.
Earn Hours by Volunteering
Our charities need us and volunteering your time to help them is the most rewarding way to earn your hours. FJWC service hours are calculated door to door, meaning you count the total number of hours you spent volunteering, including your driving time. Exceptions include working the CanCare Golf Tournament (earns 3 service hours) and ushering for the Houston Symphony (working two shows earns 8 service hours, working one show earns 4 service hours).
Can I volunteer at any charities outside of FJWC to count toward my service hour requirement? Yes! You may count up to 3 hours volunteered at a “charity of choice,” but all other hours must be earned from volunteering for FJWC Charities or in the other ways mentioned on this page.
Don’t forget to log your service hours!
Earn Hours by Making Monetary Donations
There are several chances to donate to FJWC Charities throughout the year during FJWC hour drives. There are typically two hour drives, one in the Fall and the other in the Spring. While any member can make a donation to any of our charities at any time, only Active and Professional Members will earn service hour credits for these donations (and there is a maximum yearly limit).
Each $25 donation = 1 service hour credit
- Actives: May earn a maximum of 9 service hours by making monetary donations (a maximum of $225 per year can be counted toward service hour credits)
- Professionals: May earn a maximum of 6 service hours by making monetary donations (a maximum of $150 per year can be counted toward service hour credits)

How long can I hold the same Executive Board office or be a chair of a committee? No member can hold any office or chair the same committee for more than two consecutive years.
What if I share a leadership position with another member? You will split the service hours earned. Exceptions include Donations, Decorations, and Check-Out Auction Committee Chairs. Should two Co-Chairs lead any of these Auction Committees, each Co-Chair will be credited with 6 hours.
