**Per the FJWC Bylaws, if an Active or Professional Member does not meet the minimum yearly service hour requirement (based on membership type) by May 31st, the member may be subject to a $25 fine per service hour not completed.
Service Hour Requirements to Charities
- Actives: 30 hours
- Sustainers: No service hours are required
- Juniorettes/Work Crew: 12 hours
How are hours calculated? Door to door: count the total number of hours you spent volunteering, including your driving time. Exceptions include working the CanCare Golf Tournament (earns 3 service hours) and ushering for the Houston Symphony (working 2 shows earns 8 service hours, working 1 show earns 4 service hours).
Can I volunteer at any charities outside of FJWC to count toward my service hour requirement? Yes! You may count up to 3 hours volunteered at a “charity of choice,” but all other hours must be earned from volunteering for FJWC Charities or in the other ways mentioned on this page.
How do I log service hours? Fill out and submit the Hours Submission form, noting your hours volunteered or FJWC Charity visited. If you need help, see the Tutorial for Logging Hours & Monetary Donations.
Earn Service Hours by Making Monetary Donations
There are several chances to donate to FJWC Charities throughout the year. While any member can make a donation to any of our charities at any time, Juniorettes and Work Crew members (teens) must volunteer to fulfill their requirements.
Each $25 donation = 1 service hour credit
- Actives: May earn a maximum of 9 service hours by making monetary donations (a maximum of $225 per year can be counted toward service hour credits)
Can I donate to any charities outside of FJWC to count toward service hour credits? Yes! You may donate up to $75 (earns 3 service hour credits) at a “charity of choice,” but all other donations must be to FJWC Charities.
How do I log monetary donations? Fill out and submit the Hours Submission form, noting your monetary donation. If you need help, see the Tutorial for Logging Hours & Monetary Donations.
Earn Service Hours for FJWC Leadership
Any Active or Professional Member can hold an office, chair a committee, or be a Charity Liaison.
- Executive Board President: 20 hours (completely fulfills the required service hours)
- All other Executive Board Members: 15 hours
- Charity Liaisons: 6 hours
- Donations, Decorations, and Check-Out Auction Committee Chairs: 6 hours
- All other Auction, Standing, and Special Committee Chairs: 3 hours
To learn the responsibilities of Executive Board Members and Charity Liaisons, see the FJWC Bylaws.
Find out more about FJWC Standing, Special, and Auction Committees.
How long can I hold the same Executive Board office or be a chair of a committee? No member can hold any office or chair the same committee for more than two consecutive years.
What if I share a leadership position with another member? You will split the service hours earned. Exceptions include Donations, Decorations, and Check-Out Auction Committee Chairs. Should two Co-Chairs lead any of these Auction Committees, each Co-Chair will be credited with 6 hours.
How do I log FJWC leadership positions I have held? Fill out and submit the Hours Submission form to indicate you have “other” service hours to enter, noting the hours earned and your leadership position in the description field. If you need help, see the Tutorial for Logging Hours & Monetary Donations.
General Meeting Attendance Requirements
General Meetings are usually held the first Tuesday of each month during the school year. Exceptions are the Holiday Luncheon (December), the Auction (spring), and the Spring Luncheon (May). Some meetings will be held in the evening for our working members.
- Actives: Attend at least 4 meetings
- Sustainers: Not required but encouraged to attend meetings
Do the Holiday Luncheon, Auction, and Spring Luncheon count as meetings? YES! Come to these fun events!
Committee Requirements
Actives are required to serve on one Auction Committee and one Standing or Special Committee. Committees are assigned by the Executive Board by member interest. No service hours are earned for this requirement. Sustainers are exempt from this committee requirement.
Financial Requirements
- Actives pay $100 membership dues, purchase a total of 3 Auction tickets for you and two friends ($100), and donate $100 to be used to purchase items to be sold at our Auction in the spring. (Total = $300)
- Sustainers: pay $50 membership dues
- Student Membership in Juniorettes/Work Crew: pay $75 membership dues for the first student and $50 for each additional student
